Personal Travel Assistant in Amsterdam

Amsterdam PTA

The City of Amsterdam is developing the Personal Travel Assistant concept under Connected Urban Development. This proof-of concept is part of a strategy aimed at increasing the usage and quality of public transport in the short term. Amsterdam's aim is to give the PT-passengers a measure of control insofar their transit and travel arrangements are concerned. The key features of the Amsterdam PTA are mobile, personal and real-time.

At the next CUD - conference in May 2009, Amsterdam will demonstrate a working prototype of the PTA. This PTA will be simple due to the availability of real-time data and low level of advanced mobile telephones, PDA's and other smart devices currently in the region. In the summer of 2009 the City of Amsterdam and her local partners will operate a small scale experiment with about 1000 selected users. The experiment will run until the end of 2010.

In the long term, the PTA's services and modalities will be enhanced and expanded.
